BUDWIG PROTOCOL
I am not following this protocol but I am researching it currently. My wife is taking the flaxseed oil/cottage cheese every morning currently and after two weeks says she feels better in regards to her circulation and overall health. She has told me it makes her feel “alive”. My wife does not have cancer but does have some health issues that this is beginning to show signs of helping.

AN INTRODUCTION TO THE BUDWIG PROTOCOL WITH DIET DETAILS
The following is an example of the protocol given in Dr. Budwig’s
The OIL-PROTEIN DIET COOKBOOK as well as parts from the FILES of the
this group that were taken from books written more recently by Dr.
Budwig - and some information from members of the group.
Most people begin gradually, adding healthy foods & liquids and
eliminating damaging ones. The diet seems simple, but foods are
powerful and can damage or heal a person. This protocol has over a
90% success rate with all kinds of cancer patients, according to Dr.
Budwig and those who studied and reported on her work in Germany over
a 50 year period. Many research studies done in the last ten years
support the cancer-fighting value of the foods, juices, sun exposure
and relaxation Dr Budwig recommended. There are many testimonials in
the files of this group written by members who have regained their
health by following this protocol after being diagnosed with cancer -

To start the diet, it helps to have 3 appliances. One is a coffee
bean grinder to grind the whole brown flaxseeds sold in health food
stores or online. The 2nd is an immersion hand-held mixer, a somewhat
stick-shaped mixer, to blend the flaxseed oil [FO] and the cottage
cheese [CC] together so that they become one food, making the oil
water-soluble and more absorbable to the cells of the body. Also, a
vegetable juicer is needed. A masticating-type may give a more
healthful juice than a centrifugal type.
The FLAXSEED OIL/COTTAGE CHEESE (FO/CC) RATIO: Generally, each
tablespoon of Flaxseed Oil (FO) is mixed with 2 or more tablespoons
of low-fat organic Cottage Cheese (CC). That is a FO/CC ratio of 1:2.
Cold-pressed refrigerated liquid FO is used. Most members like either
Barlean’s or Spectrum brands.
Patients with liver, gallbladder or pancreatic cancer, should begin
VERY slowly with a transition diet found in the files. For those who
are ready, the FULL PROTOCOL FOR THE UNWELL may include the
following.
TO START THE DAY: A glass of homemade sauerkraut juice for the
digestive enzymes and other valuable cancer-fighting benefits.

JUST BEFORE BREAKFAST: A cup of warm Green tea or herbal tea - helps
the ground flaxseeds to soften & swell in the stomach & become more
easily digested.
BREAKFAST:[1] Blend 3 tbs flaxseed oil & 6 tbs organic lowfat cottage
cheese with a hand-held immersion electric blender. The blending may
take a minute or more. The mixture should be like rich whipped cream
with no separated oil. If too thick, add a little milk.
[2] Grind & add 2 tbs whole brown flaxseeds [becomes 4tbs when ground]
[3] Stir in various fresh or frozen organic BERRIES [contain cancer-
fighting ellagic acid]
[4] Mix in other fresh organic FRUIT that you like.
[5] Add 2 tbs fruit juice [dark grape, blueberry] or milk if mixture
is too thick.
[6] Add organic RAW NUTS such as almonds, pecans, walnuts or Brazil
nuts [no peanuts] - purchased at a health food store and, if you
wish, raw honey or vanilla. Day by day, try out various fresh or
frozen organic fruits to give yourself variety. [If you find the
ground flaxseeds difficult to digest, if they cause bloating or
feeling overly full, you can cut back to 1 tbs whole flaxseeds
to grind and use in the breakfast mixture.]
MID-MORNING -Freshly-pressed vegetable juice - Carrot juice, Beet
juice, Celery & Lemon, Beet & Apple. [Carrot & Beet juices are
especially helpful to the liver and are excellent cancer fighters.]
OUTSIDE FOR SUNSHINE - Sun on the skin is very healthful; for vitamin
D & other benefits -avoid burning. If you feel up to having some
EXERCISE, INDIVIDUALIZE IT ACCORDING TO YOUR STRENGTH - NEVER OVERDO
IT. Dr. Budwig did not push the idea of exercise, she felt that one
needs rest to heal. So, take caution. [For those who can exercise,
besides walking, a rebounder is beneficial for the lymph system,

BEFORE LUNCH- Cup of warm Green tea or herbal tea. Only honey is used
as a sweetener.
LUNCH:- RAW or WARMED VEGETABLES with FO/CC Salad Dressing including
1 or more tbs. FO blended with 2 or more tbs organic low-fat CC plus
1 tbs organic apple cider vinegar or lemon juice & add spices.
LUNCH DESSERT: Similar to breakfast w/varied fresh raw organic fruits
[Never eat too much so that you are uncomfortable. The body digests
smaller amounts of food better. Work up to six to eight tbs FO per
day if possible, with 2x CC, depending on digestive ability & size.
Many people do well with 6 tbs FO per day.
MID-AFTERNOON - 2 tbs freshly ground flaxseeds stirred into a glass
of sparkling wine or Champagne or stirred into a glass of freshly
made juice.
LATER -glass of freshly-made vegetable juice-beet,carrot,greens etc.
RELAXATION IN THE SUN IF POSSIBLE Relaxation to relieve stress is
healing - nature, music, chat, laughter.[On days when you cannot be
in the sun, high-quality cold-pressed cod liver oil offers vitamin D
& other benefits]
LATE AFTERNOON -fresh papaya or pineapple juice [both fruits have
lots of digestive enzymes if they are fresh. Most bottled juices have
lost their enzymes.]
DINNER -VEGETABLE SOUP or SOME VARIETY OF VEGGIES & STARCH, well
spiced, add Oleolux & nutritional yeast flakes after cooking. Choices
of cooked starches—BUCKWHEAT GROATS (JB’s top choice-digests well),
MILLET, Brown RICE,.LENTILS. BEANS, & POTATO (JB’s least favorite
choice) Occasionally, a very healthy BREAD such as Ezekiel brand is
allowed but cannot be toasted or the benefit will be lost due to
heating the live ingredients.
Two tbs. OLEOLUX are added to the starches AFTER COOKING and is made
with virgin coconut oil, flaxseed oil, garlic & onion [See files]
EVENING - 1 glass of organic red wine OR more vegetable juice
THE ABOVE DIET CAN BE VARIED BY THE MANY RECIPES IN DR, BUDWIG’S
BOOK, “THE OIL-PROTEIN DIET COOKBOOK,” sold on Amazon for under $10.
DR BUDWIG STRESSED THAT IT IS VERY IMPORTANT TO AVOID UNHEALTHY FOODS
& SUBSTANCES such as hydrogenated fats, animal fats, sugar, white
flour, preservatives, chemicals and processed foods. Avoid leftovers -
food should be prepared fresh and eaten soon after preparation to
get the health-giving electrons & enzymes-within 15-20 minutes. At
least 3x a day drink a warm liquid, such as green or herbal teas,
sweeten only with honey. Keep a food diary. Avoid stress and anxiety;
take time to relax & enjoy each day. Listen to beautiful music,
laugh, do deep breathing, connect with nature, spend time with people
you like. Dr Budwig spoke about the damaging effects of stress.
Also, she did not include supplements or drugs in her protocol. Some
supplements, especially high amounts of antioxidants, can interfere
with how well the diet works, as can some drugs.
